Cultural Landscapes   - are sites that reflect specific techniques of land use that guarantee and sustain biological diversity. Most of them shows how the communities are associated in the minds showing powerful beliefs and artistic and traditional customs, that embody an exceptional spiritual relationship of people with nature.

The Rice Terraces in Cordillera is our country's contribution to this that is accredited by the the World Heritage Committee

OPDAS CAVE in KABAYAN BENGUET : Remains of the living past, is also an example of our cultural landscape (although it is not recognized by the World Heritage Committee)

Emergence of   LANDSCAPE ECOLOGY is due to  broad scale Environmental issues

Nakita Ko Lang Itong Landscape Ecology sa Facebook Newsfeed Ko

by Jabez Flores

* Hello!

Using Graphic Arts to Teach Landscape Ecology

Filipinos are visual learners and graphic design is one of the best ways to convey a powerful message using a combination of words and pictures. In this graphic, the statement, "Changing your habits changes your landscapes" was written to form a picture of a garden trowel which conveys planting or gardening. This shows that people from all walks of life have the ability to change and influence their landscapes for the better if they develop good habits and practices that would benefit the community and the environment.

Understanding Landscape Ecology via Online Videos

Online video is considered as one of the powerful tools we know. Videos are an effective ‘show and tell’ medium for different types of people to communicate about interesting topics and why it’s important. Like majority of you, I usually dedicate several minutes/hours of my time watching online videos.  These videos can have various forms, it can be documentary, lecture type, musical or animated.  It depends on the type of audience. For some, documentary or lecture type will suffice, however for the illiterate it can be more challenging. As of the moment, I can share an example of a lecture video which talks about landscape ecology disturbances. May you also find this video informative and useful. Please come back here and tell me about what you think. I bet you'll have something to say!  ---  Joy  B. Domingo
